Descrição:
Ten loomweights and five whorls, indicating textile production, were found at the Courthouse Site, dating to the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Loomweights serve to weight the warp threads in the warp-weighted loom (Shamir 1996), while whorls are used as weights for spinning fibers into threads. A whorl may be hung on the spindle to weigh it down (Israeli 1962), thus allowing the spindle to turn and twist the fibers together. Only loomweights that have been sufficiently wellpreserved were weighed and measured.
