Descrição:
This study examines the myths of agricultural and hunter-warrior societies in terms of their conceptions of the world and focuses on the possible reasons of similarities and differences among these myths. Towards this goal, the myths of these societies are analyzed comparatively under the subheadings of earth, sky, underworld, moon, sun, axis mundi and the genders of these entities. According to obtained data in the research process, it is determined that the world-conception composed of three cosmic zones is the most important common point observed in the agricultural and hunter-warrior societies. Other common points are the genders attributed to the entities and the presence of axis mundi that holds these three zones together. It has been seen that the differences among these myths are actually different variations of the common points. According to the acquired data, the reasons of these similarities and differences have been discussed. At the end of the discussion, the reason of similarities has been based on Adolf Bastian’s theories of Elementary Ideas and the differences has been based on Ethnic Ideas.
