  • Descrição: The calibration uncertainty of flowmeters using the subtraction method for hydrocarbon flow has been experimentally and analytically evaluated in order to calibrate flowmeters at lower flow rates than the flow rate range calibrated using the calibration facility. An expanded uncertainty is estimated to be 0.79 % at the flow rate ratio of 1/100 in the kerosene test rig of the primary standard facility. The main sources of combined uncertainty due to the subtraction method are the reproducibility of the standard flowmeters and the temperature measurements. Furthermore, a flowmeter has been calibrated using the subtraction method in order to verify uncertainty analysis. The result shows that the deviation of the calibrated flowmeter from the value using the primary standard agrees within the quoted expanded uncertainty.
