  • Descrição: Most so called multi-purpose serum-free media (SFM) are expensive sophisticated mixtures of many hormones and growth factors, or contain inexpensive, undefined ingredients. This work is based on the concept that different anchorage-dependent cell types might share basic requirements, and thus a simple general purpose medium could be turned into specific media for individual cell types by the addition of a few defined ingredients. The SFM developed supports long-term growth of chosen anchorage-dependent epithelial and fibroblast-type cells. Keywords: Anchorage-dependent cells, Primary cells, Cell longevity, Long-term growth, Serum-free medium, Defined medium.
