  • Descrição: The results of a research on young Brazilian migrantes are evaluated. Several young Brazilians migrated to the city of Porto Velho, Rondonia State, Brazil, from 2010 onwards, when the construction of the Santo Antonio and Jirau Hydroelectric Powerstation started. So that their perceptions on the Amazon region could be analyzed through a qualitative research and with the help of Cultural and Human Geography, the images they had of their destination prior to migrating, their motivations and reasons that empowered their imaginary and what induced them to take this decision are assessed. An analysis is also undertaken on these images which developed and transformed themselves between the period in which the young people decided to migrate until their arrival and their insertion in the city. Analysis and comparison of data produced details on the migration process, through a clear exposition of the evolution and transformation of preconceived images of the interviewed people.
