Descrição: In this paper, we discuss the idea of Anthropology of the Anthropology, with special attention to the Brazilian anthropological studies that have been devoted to party, sociability, and leisure. From the perspective of an "experienced theory", we present, through the prism of his sociocultural context, the life and works of Jose Guilherme Magnani and some of the problems concerning to the Anthropology, inside and outside of the academic scope. In this process, we pintpoint some of the anthropological lineages that have added to the institutionalization of paradigms of the Urban Anthropology in Brazil as well as some tension due to the insertion of partying as a way of reflexion about the city, its inhabitants and their ways of life.
