  • Descrição: Frequently found in archaeological collections, macro-lithic tools constitute a general class of pieces that do not go through the faconnage stage. This fact limits the technological study, directing the approach to a typological list that masks the variety of the pieces. However, with the consistent description of the macro-traces from use, their location in the artifact, and the selection of the raw blanks, you get available criteria that allow us to understand the "elementary forms of action on the matter", to make considerations about the operation of these objects and to detail this class of tools. These observations, sometimes combined with ethnographic descriptions, evidenced a wide range of tools employed by ceramic groups from Cidade de Pedra shelters, in Rondonopolis (MT) between 1.634-1.882 cal BP and 1-302 cal BP. Despite the simple list, the technological and functional studies of these tools, combined with other remains, contributes to understanding some technical aspects of the lithic industries and gives information about the past groups that occupied the southeast of Mato Grosso state.
