Descrição: 이 연구의 목적은 ‘공공예술’, 지역예술, 비엔날레, 문화이벤트 등 다양한 현상으로 확산되고 있는 현대예술의 조류인 아트 프로젝트를 기존의 예술개념과 비교하여 그것의 의미변화를 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 기존의 공공미술이 공공의 개념을 단순히 장소와 관련시켜 작품을 만들고 소통했다고 한다면, 최근에 지역재생과 결합된 아트 프로젝트들은 장소를 물리적 장소로 보지 않고 사회적, 문화적, 정치적 소통의 공간으로 간주한다. 그리고 그런 의미에 맞는 작품으로 지역공동체와 관람객의 참여, 일시적 작업 등을 제안하는 경향을 보여주고 있다. 또 인터넷의 발달로 문화의 융합현상이 빠르게 확산되는 가운데, 이전에는 예술가가 개인적으로 하던 작업들이 창작효과를 극대화시키려는 목적으로 전문기술자나 경영자와 협업하는 현상도 확산되고 있다. 아트 프로젝트는 감상을 위한 전문적 문화시설이 아니라, 일상적인 생활의 장에 있어서 운영주체, 아티스트, 서포터, 장소제공자의 참가, 협력에 의해 행해지는 활동이다. 그리고 대체로 아트 프로젝트에서 나타나는 작품의 종류로서는 감상을 목적으로 하는 작품형태인 전시형, 다양한 사람이 참가하여 같이 제작하는 작품형태인 참가형, 다양한 사람과 함께 만드는 프로세스를 내포하고 있는 작품형태인 커뮤니케이션형, 마지막으로 아티스트가 시스템을 설계하고 다른 사람이 운영해가는 작품형태인 시스템형 등으로 나눌 수 있다. 이 논문은 특히 일본과 국내에서 지역재생을 둘러싼 몇몇 아트 프로젝트를 중심으로 하여, 아트 프로젝트로부터 파생한 활동의 생성프로세스를 활동 주체의 입장과 그를 둘러싼 관계, 또 프로젝트 진행과정에서 그들의 의식변화와 그 계기에 착목하여 분석한다. 그리하여 글로컬시대의 지역활성화에 있어서 예술이 하는 역할과 그 가능성에 대해 고찰함으로써, 오늘날에 있어서 모더니즘 이래 변화되어온 예술 내지 예술(작품)의 의미를 재고해 보고자 한다. The purposes of this study were to compare art projects, which are one of the contemporary art trends spreading to a variety of phenomena including "public art," local art, biennale, and cultural events, with the existing concepts of art and to examine the changes of their meanings. Unlike the old public art creates works and communicates by simply relating the concept of public to places, art projects recently combined with local regeneration consider places as the space of social, cultural, and political communication instead of physical space. One of the emerging trends is to propose the participation of the community and viewers and temporary works with works fit for such meanings. With the rapid spread of cultural fusion driven by the development of the Internet, artists that used to work individually have started to collaborate with professional technicians and managers to maximize the creative effects of their works, which phenomenon is also spreading. Art projects are not professional cultural facilities made for appreciation but activities carried out by the participation and cooperation of the operational subjects, artists, supporters, and place providers in the venues of daily life.
