Attention for juveniles in the archaeological record and their potential roles in society has increased considerably in archaeological studies since the turn of the century, exemplified by numerous conference sessions and publications (e.g. Sofaer Derevenski 2000; Kamp 2001; Baxter 2005; Pomadère 2007; Lebegyev 2009; Georgiadis 2011; Lally and Moore 2011; Smith 2011; Coskunsu 2015; this volume). This increasing attention has, however, had a limited impact on the archaeology of Bronze Age Crete (exceptions being Pomadère 2007; McGeorge 2012).
