  • Descrição: This study aims to verify the occurrence of the organizational slack in the empirical field. Unlike the propositions found in the literature to identify measures to calculate the organizational slack, this research focuses on the predominantly subjective characteristics of the slack, aiming at understanding this concept from the behavioral perspective. Thus, an inductive and exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, was carried out through a case study in a company in the textile segment. The categories of organizational slack were extracted from the literature and gathered in an interview script, applied to seven directors/managers of the company. The interviews were analyzed using the content analysis technique and triangulated with documentary and media sources. The results show the presence of organizational slack in the perspectives of resources (human, physical and financial), time and power. However, the construct developed to assess the presence of organizational slack didn't investigate the motivations, which indicates a research gap.
