  • Descrição: In a time in which the centrality of language gives way to the immediacy of the image, and in a time in which the awareness and experience of boundaries raise profound theoretical debates, this article studies two representative, influential poems by Charles Baudelaire from his Les Fleurs du Mal (1857) : "Correspondances" and "La Beauté". This study pivots on two concepts that are fundamental to understand symbolist poetry and contemporary aesthetics: ineffability and suggestion. After a first theoretical approach to both concepts and their application to the critical reading of Baudelaire's poetry, this study brings the poète maudit Charles Baudelaire back to the frontline of current creation; and in so doing, this essay claims that the force behind impossibility and the force behind creativity are, more often than not, two sides of the same coin.
