Descrição: In contemporary architecture of Lithuania, wood is becoming a material of increasing importance. The article reviews some Lithuanian and foreign examples as well as development of innovative wooden architectural forms and a variety of constructionaltechnological expressions. Wood is analysed as material that enables the most innovative architectural shapes to transform into harmonious inhabited environments, to encode images, semantic symbols, declare aesthetical, social and ecological ideas. Wooden constructions can be applied for new buildings and renovation, realising various building forms in different volume, height and structural framework. The evolution of wooden architecture morphology both in Lithuania and abroad becomes more and more important and significant for formation of contemporary human environment.
