  • Descrição: When one cries wolf too many times, it is easy to dismiss the calls as meaningless, in Quebec's case, denouncing federal intrusions into provincial affairs is a national sport, right up there at the top of the bitching ladder with blaming Ottawa for all that is evil in our lives. But, is it possible they are correct, sometimes, often? Last week, two meetings attended by Quebec ministers, both held in Alberta, produced an other flurry of criticism against Ottawa's intrusion into provincial jurisdictions. Joseph Facal, our minister of intergovernmental affairs met with his colleagues and took advantage of the fact that seven new faces were sitting around the table to reiterate why Quebec wanted out of the social union, or rather, did not want in. In Kananaskis, PQ Health Minister Pauline Marois was also meeting her counterparts and explaining why Quebec thinks the new federal program for children will unnecessarily duplicate provincial measures, create confusion and represents another outrageous intrusion in provincial affairs.
