  • Descrição: Brazed aluminum plate-fin heat exchangers (ALEX) have been widely used in gas processing plants, LNG plants and other cryogenic plants due to their large heat exchange capacity per unit volume, as well as their light weight. Recently, their use in high-pressure applications has increased as higher efficiencies and compactness become increasingly important. Analytic and experimental approaches were developed by Kobe Steel to produce even higher efficiency, high pressure ALEX. The results of these efforts yielded a large, high pressure ALEX capable of withstanding pressures up to 12.7 MPa. A few of these are currently being used commercially at some plants. This paper introduces their design.
