Descrição: With the luxury class VW Phaeton, Volkswagen has developed a completely novel vehicle in the premium segment characterized by a variety of advanced technologies. The air suspension system with its pneumatic lines is one of the highlights. Four ground clearance levels can be selected depending on terrain and variable spring and damping criteria resolve the conflict between driving comfort and driving dynamics. The components used and the connection design used to ensure reliability is described. Additionally, the expansion of pneumatic applications in vehicle design explored. This includes not only additional functions but also the transfer of realized solutions to small vehicles.
