  • Descrição: Viewing 1968 as theater, those players who participated in the revolutionary or insurrectional activities are discussed in terms of aims, objectives, goals, & illusions. Focus is on Brazil, where revolts were targeted against the military dictatorship, analyzing the relation between protest & dictatorial power to reveal a sharp contrast to those readings of 1968 that argue that the movement emerged only in response to political repression. The unarmed students & armed revolutionaries of the Brazilian movement are contrasted. Looking at 1968 & its legacy in Brazil is valuable for examining the history of the political Left in that country. 6 References. Adapted from the source document.
