Descrição: Completed in 1999, the 20-year conservation and restoration of da Vinci's "The Last Supper" has generated even more controversy than similar work on Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel frescoes. In part this may be because Michelangelo's works were in better shape both before and after the restoration. Commissioned to provide art for the dining room of a monastery in Milan, da Vinci used experimental techniques mixing oil and tempera over fresco, and the work began deteriorating shortly after completion.
