Description:
Who or what is the figure like a Son of man in Dan. 7.13? The fact that the phrase “Son of man” is used here as a comparison suggests that, whatever else he may or may not be, he is not a mere “Son of man”.¹ It has, indeed, been maintained that the comparison has no inherent value, and merely serves to develop the mysterious atmosphere of apocalyptic vision.² In opposition to this view, C. H. Kraeling³ rightly pointed out that while the comparative is used four times in chapter 7, it is not found with the symbols employed elsewhere
