Descripción:
The years following Edward Dorn's death on December 10, 1999, saw numerous literary memorials, but 11 years later it remains to be seen if, how, and by whom Dorn's poetic contributions to the public sphere will be remembered. Here, Regan examines how other writers including Dale Smith, Robert von Hallberg and Donald Wesling had commemorated the poet who produced 16 books of poetry and 10 collections of stories, essays, and interviews. Among other things, Smith comments that no poet of the post-war era addressed the conflicting public interest of American democracy with the same rhetorical force as that of Dorn. Excerpts of some of Dorn's poems, such as Dobro played the banjo and Complaint from a Worker, are presented.
